New Zealand: White water dreams and passing lane thrills

I wasn’t particularly worried as the shouted instructions came, paddle hard, ok everybody down, or when we floated very quickly through a narrow tunnel. I was startled into fear when we hit the final rapids and found myself face down in white water, my legs flyin up and out of the raft.

New Zealand: Jumping into Queenstown

Once we walked into the recesses of the Bungy center, my cautions wore thin. The energy and adrenaline were infectious. This is the center of the universe for bungy jumping enthusiasts.

Drivetime Yoga on the ‘wrong’ side of the road

Driving on the left made for some harrowing close calls as each of us took turns driving. Of course we launched into the most challenging bit first off – driving from the airport into downtown Christchurch.

Life Living Through You

Inspiration for armchair travelers and whenever the longest journey may be just around the block. Attributed to Roger Keys.

Hokusai Says

Hokusai says look carefully.

He says pay attention, notice.
He says keep looking, stay curious.
He says there is no end to seeing.

He says look forward to getting old.
He says keep changing, you just get more who you really are.
He says get stuck, accept it, repeat
Yourself as long as it’s interesting.

He says keep doing what you love.
He says keep praying.

He says everyone of us is a child,
everyone of us is ancient, everyone of us has a body.
He says everyone of us is frightened.
He says everyone of us has to find a way to live with fear.

He says everything is alive -
shells, buildings, people,
fish, mountains, trees.
Wood is alive.
Water is alive.

Everything has its own life.

Everything lives inside us.

He says live with the world inside you.

He says it doesn’t matter if you draw, or write books.
It doesn’t matter if you saw wood, or catch fish.
It doesn’t matter if you sit at home and stare at the ants on your veranda
or the shadows of the trees and grasses in your garden.
It matters that you care.

It matters that you feel.

It matters that you notice.

It matters that life lives through you.

Contentment is life living through you.
Joy is life living through you.
Satisfaction and strength is life living through you.
Peace is life living through you.

He says don’t be afraid.
Don’t be afraid.

Look, feel, let life take you by the hand.

Come Fly With Me!

For years, I’ve been stretching on planes, in security lines and at baggage claim in airports. When the flights got bumpy, I’d use breathing techniques to calm my nerves. Now, I’m ready to share this with you.

Opening to the new

Many of us have been wracked by fears of the unknown – where will I live, where will I work, what am I really meant to do?? In the coming few weeks we may cling to the familiar where we can. I invite you to listen to that quiet (or not so!) tremor of fear and breathe into it. Try this technique…
